Man’s Tools
September 30, 2005 on 4:43 am | In All Drawings, Interiors, Texas, USA & Canada | No CommentsHaving a shed in the garden in which a man can retreat to play with his tools I see now is a must to maintain a healthy relationship.
Waiting For Aimie
September 29, 2005 on 4:47 am | In All Drawings, Buildings, Exteriors, Texas, USA & Canada | No CommentsAgain I must apologise for the poor quality images, still having trouble with the scanner and having to photograph all drawings.
The Doxology crew begin their arrivals today and Aimie is the first. I’ve become a Texan ever so quickly with a complete life sorted it seems, studio, cell phone and a house with a porch on which I can pretend to be a cowboy. The watering schedule that I’m undertaking whilst the Cogdell’s are away is a little stressful but I’m managing to cope more than adequately!
My Biggest Fan
September 28, 2005 on 4:49 am | In All Drawings, Interiors, Texas, USA & Canada | No CommentsSome invites went out today for the Doxology Exhibit (except those in my address book! you can wait till I find an internet cafe that my mail server likes), a couple of people blogged about it including Si Johnston and Andrew Jones and if you want to come then it opens Friday 7th October 6 - 10pm with a Day of Dialogue Saturday 8th 11am - 4pm. The show runs till 6th November if you can’t make those days.
The paintings are numerous and looking okay and the convergence begins its converging tomorrow with Aimie arriving, the Kubiks come on saturday, Mark E Mark on monday with the Futurist Guy and the Jones heading to Houston the end of the week. If anybody wants to come do some gold leafing in a sauna then feel free to get in contact.
Best Teeth I’ve seen
September 27, 2005 on 4:53 am | In All Drawings, People, Texas, USA & Canada | No CommentsI’ve been getting round Austin on the bus which tends to be free more often than not due to “Ozone Day.” (Not sure exactly why this is but it seems to be when it hits a certain temperature) They run often and are cheap when you do have to pay, $1 unlimited journeys for 24 hours.
I realised that I’ve become an evangelical greeny whilst here. Went on about the Kyoto agreement to well educated Americans, they had never heard of it which shocked me a little. For those of you back in the UK petrol sits between $2.50 & $3 a gallon now and this has caused some to start contemplating getting Public Transport (for the Americans who are unaware of how much we pay in Europe its around $8 - $9 a gallon). I’ve been looking into becoming carbon neutral and in most of my life I leave a small impact until I start flying, the Carbon Neutral Company will plant trees to soak up your Carbon Dioxide which is great way dealing with our impact. If you fly they calculate how many trees you need to plant to balance out the damage your flight will cause.
However those that do ride the bus keep you quite entertained and the guy that I stole a drawing from had great teeth.
( Sorry for the decline in image quality today and tomorrow, scanner problems mean I’m photographing drawings)
10th & Trinity
September 26, 2005 on 4:54 am | In All Drawings, Exteriors, Texas, USA & Canada | No CommentsThe cold front came today and hit the low, low temperature of 41c / 104f. With me working endless days in the studio where the temp is only slightly lower than outside I seek company wherever I can and today an endless supply of Crickets were my support team. Everywhere I looked there they would be looking up to me. A group of them even walked me home.
The Dust Bowl & Shadows In The Dark
September 25, 2005 on 4:55 am | In All Drawings, Musicians, Texas, USA & Canada | No CommentsWent to the dusty, crowded and hot 42 degree ACL today. Apparently a cold front is on it’s way.
Community Pick Up Truck
September 24, 2005 on 4:56 am | In All Drawings, Life Stills, Texas, USA & Canada | No CommentsAustin is so full of nice people that in some areas the community has a communal pick up truck.
Spiderhouse Rules
September 23, 2005 on 4:57 am | In All Drawings, Life Stills, Texas, USA & Canada | No CommentsToday I may well have done the worst drawing in my life and this is a second attempt. Not quite so bad. The heat is hotting up and they say tomorrow is going to be the hottest of the year so far.
Turned a corner with the paintings and should get it all done.
Shaken From Self Reflection
September 22, 2005 on 4:58 am | In All Drawings, Self Portraits, Texas, USA & Canada | No CommentsHave been without scanner for nearly a week now and have had little time to do anything except bake in the studio so am posting retrospectively.
Overwhelmed today by the amount I have todo. Only have the ability to look at the tiny steps I seem to be taking.
Time To Celebrate
September 21, 2005 on 4:58 am | In All Drawings, Interiors, Life Stills, Texas, USA & Canada | No CommentsI’ve been wanting to post about this for a few days now but waiting for my brother to go and see our mum. He has done the right thing at last and in true romantic style proposed to Natasha whilst in Egypt. Its quite a funny story on how he did it and I’m looking forward to seeing the ring! (If you know Matt Pepper then your pretty certain that its going to be top quality)
He’s asked me to be the Best Man and am looking forward to being by his side to give him away.
Well done Matt & Tash may your marriage be long and beautiful.
