  1. The Ameriacan Fada Coloradio, “The radio beautiful” the advert says dated 1937, sweet sounds of dance bands, early Sinatra, Arty Shaw a beguiling clarinet and then the news of war in Europe oh so far away then closer to home and maybe one of your family leaving to fight, waiting for your news then its all over peace and joy.
Your family grows and you have a room full of teenagers and what a racket coming out of your little speakers Elvis who? Then one of the younguns “Grandad, when are you going to get one of those transistor radios, the’re cute” And then silence. But you didn’t get booted out into the bin someone saved you now here you are a radio work of art worth as much as a thousand transistor radios. Well done little Fada
