BRMC at The Astoria
Posted by Rob | Filed under Digit n spit, Interiors, Musicians
The BRMC boys are back in the country and we got invited down to the Astoria to hear the set which included their current single Weapon of Choice and songs from their new album Baby 81 which is released on May 1st.
Without these guys support The Truth Isn’t Sexy Campaign would not have been what it is and last night before the gig we had a meeting to talk about distributing the beermats that sit on a pallet in my studio. On May 19th The Truth Isn’t Sexy is having a distribution day where we deliver the beermats and get London pubs to sign up to the campaign. We need 75 people to help us and if you are interested in doing so then please let Shannon know. We are meeting at The Art Academy in the gallery space where the exhibition I’m having will be at 11.30.
There are 2 ways you can help us.
- Come along to The best excuse ever for a pub crawl on the 19th May at 11.30am THE ART ACADEMY 201 UNION ST, SE1 OLN
- Adopt a pub for £80. This is the cost of enough beermats and posters for 1 pub for a month. We have had some money which has paid for all the NUS beermats and posters but we we want to do more pubs and clubs.
We have had a Facebook account set up and I think we will use this to keep people up to date with goings on - http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2305331874
Here is the email we are sending out copy and paste it and send it to your friends.
Hi there
Go on the town on Saturday, May 19, 11am - and help the fight against sex trafficking

MapThese days more and more lads’ nights out end up at lap-dancing clubs, ‘massage parlours’ and brothels. But how many of those lads know what’s really going on in these places?
Thousands of women in the UK are manipulated and coerced into prostitution every year. Women like Ellen, who was abducted in Albania and sold to a brothel in London’s West End, where she was forced to have sex with up to 40 men every day. If she tried to refuse, she was beaten, raped and threatened with death. She was 15 years old.
The Truth Isn’t Sexy is a campaign highlighting this brutal reality, using posters and beer mats, which we need to get into as many pubs and bars as we can (see http://www.thetruthisntsexy.com for samples).
We’d love you to join us on Saturday May 19, when our teams will be blitzing the watering holes of central London, to see if they’ll put up our posters and/or have our beermats on their tables. It’ll be a great way to spend a Saturday, and should get our message out all over central London.
If you can’t be there on the day, you can still help by sponsoring a team. Your donation will help us print and distribute many more beer mats and posters. If you can spare it, £80 covers the cost of one pub’s worth. Click here to donate. That would be fantastic.
Get in touch now to find out more. And we hope to see you on May 19 at 11am.
