Where It All Began

Half a lifetime ago I sat in art class hoping that I had the talent to become an artist. The first piece of work that I made (which was bigger than an A4 piece of paper) was my reinterpretation of Van Gogh’s Chair, I was 14 years old. I made it into a cubist style wood relief and when finished I sat back and felt my confidence brewing and the beginnings of a belief in myself.

Today I saw an image of the Chair and it reminded me of those beginings.
