Sorry for the lack of postings recently, Texas is big and they do oil fileds rather than wifi fields here in the west of the state. I’ve been drawing a lot for the upcoming State of Texas Exhibition which opens 6 October at Mesquite and come the end of the week the blog should be up and running again. In the meantime here is the first photograph of the ceiling at St Lukes without the scaffolding. I’ve not seen it in the flesh as am 5000 miles away but Stef Cagnoni has kindly sent this image through for us to look at.
3 Mystic Hares Final Panel Drawing
August 31, 2007 on 11:21 am | In The leaves of the tree | No CommentsThis is the final preparation drawing for the central panel for the church ceiling at St Lukes. The hares represent the trinity but have also been found in Buddhist and Iranian culture. The final painting will be inlaid with gold, white gold and silver and will be inserted during the service this sunday.

Here are a couple more preparatory drawings for the design for the St Lukes church ceiling. The painting will only be in the Sanctuary and not all of it and it will be made up of 40 separate panels that will be done over the next 6 weeks. I’m currently working on the colour scheme and I shouldhave photos of that in the next week.
Canopy Quarter
July 14, 2007 on 12:51 am | In The leaves of the tree | No CommentsThis is the preparatory drawing for the “Leaves On The Tree” ceiling piece for St Lukes church. I wanted the tree to come from somewhere rather than make it up in my head and the place where this tree is has a very strong family connection.
You’d be surprised how physically painful this drawing was to do. Lying on your back with your arms in the air can cause quite considerable pain. However I’m pleased withthe results.
The Leaves Of The Tree
July 9, 2007 on 2:08 pm | In The leaves of the tree | No CommentsBetween now and the beginning of September I will be working with members of the St Lukes community in North London to produce a new ceiling in the sanctuary of the church. It will include 40 panels that will be designed into the canopy of a tree and then with the help of a team of artist’s painting and gold leafing. Over the next few weeks I’ll be adding more drawings and photos as we progress.
We will be including a quote from Revelation 22:2 “The Leaves of the trees are for the healing of the nations,” and all the names of the congregation will be written onto the branches.
